Glenmorangie – The Nectar 16 Years Old (70cl, 46%)

Glenmorangie The Nectar is a 16 year old Highland single malt, conceived by Dr Bill Lumsden after a memory of walking into a French pastry shop. It spends 14 years in ex-Bourbon casks, then two years finished in sweet white wine casks: Sauternes and Monbazillac from France, Moscatel from Spain and Tokaji from Hungary. It is bottled non-chill-filtered at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The Sauternes and Monbazillac casks are linked with pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apple, the Moscatel with syrupy, dessert-like sweetness, and the Tokaji with white chocolate, almond and honeycomb.
