The original 12 year old Quinta Ruban from Glenmorangie, a Highland single malt from before the expression was reformulated at 14 years. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill filtered.
After maturation in ex-bourbon casks, it was finished in ruby Port pipes sourced from the Quintas of the Douro Valley.
The nose combines butterscotch, dark chocolate, mint and port sweetness, with cooking spices, raisin and dried fruit. The palate is velvety, with chocolate, jam and dark fruit, tangy with port sweetness. The finish is spicy and peppery, with vanilla, citrus, wood and a hint of mint.
