A single malt from Glenrothes in Speyside, distilled in 1978 and bottled at 41.4% ABV after 36 years in a single sherry-seasoned refill hogshead, Cask #3631. It is presented in a 750ml bottle, and 168 bottles were filled from the cask.
The nose has ripe peaches, candied peel, sweet ginger and honeyed sultanas, with tobacco leaf and aged oak beneath. The palate is soft and fruity, with orange zest, vanilla, dried fruit and gentle nuttiness, then light oak and spice. The finish is medium to long and gently drying, with soft spice, mature oak and a hint of gooseberry.
