This is a Highland single malt from Glenturret, bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in 2020 at 64.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is one of 306 bottles.
The whisky was distilled on 1 October 2013 and aged for six years in a single re-charred hogshead.
The nose is rich with golden syrup, nut oils, tar, clean earth, rhubarb and roasted root vegetables, then toasted pine nuts, crispy bacon, cardamom and cloves. With water, more tar and coal appear. The palate pairs dry smoke with sweetness, with Battenberg cake rolled in charcoal and ash. The finish has burning heather, chimney soot, and hints of fruit and sweet oak.
