Gold Spot Generations Edition is a 13 year old single pot still Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46% ABV. It marks seven generations of the Mitchell family, guardians of Spot Whiskey and one of Ireland's leading wine families.
The whiskey is matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, then spends 16 months in Italian Valpolicella wine casks, which add dark fruit, berry compote and a softly textured sweetness.
The nose offers red apples, dark fruits, blossom, clove, nutmeg and a little almond. On the palate come red berry compote, toffee apple and raisin with delicate tannins. The finish is long, as the oak fades and sweet wine and pot still spice remain.
