Gold Spot 13 Year Old Generations Edition is a single pot still Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46%. It marks seven generations of the Mitchell family, guardians of Spot Whiskey and one of Ireland's leading wine families.
The whiskey was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, then spent 16 months in Valpolicella wine casks from an Italian winery. The red wine adds dark fruit and berry compote to the usual spice of Gold Spot.
The nose offers red apples, dark fruit, blossom, clove and nutmeg. The palate is sweet, with red berry compote, toffee apple and raisin, and the finish fades from oak to sweet wine and pot still spice.
