Goodwood Bourbon Finished in Stout Barrels was the first release from Goodwood Spirits, in 2019. It is made in Louisville, Kentucky, and bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The bourbon spent 12 years in charred American white oak, then 3 to 4 months in barrels that previously held Goodwood's Bourbon Barrel Stout. The finish adds malt sweetness and cocoa to the vanilla and caramel of the bourbon.
The nose is chocolate, caramelised sugar and dark fruit, with hints of stout ale. The palate brings chocolate-covered cherries, caramel, rye spice and light oak, and the finish is warming, with roasted grain.
