Goodwood Rye Whiskey Finished in English Mild Barrels (75cl, 45%)

This is a Kentucky rye whiskey from Goodwood Brewing & Spirits of Louisville, bottled at 45% ABV. It is finished in barrels that held the brewery's own English Mild beer, and those barrels were first used for bourbon. The malt-forward character of the beer is meant to sit over traditional rye spice, softening its edge with honey and tea notes while the bourbon-barrel background gives structure. The house notes describe an herbaceous nose of clove, eucalyptus and sage. The palate has honey over rye spice with malt sweetness, and the finish brings tea tannins and gentle rye pepper.
