Green Spot Chateau Montelena is a single pot still Irish whiskey, triple distilled at Midleton Distillery in County Cork for Mitchell & Son. It is the second release in the Wine Geese series and is bottled at 46% without chill filtration, in a 750ml bottle.
The whiskey is first matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, then spends 12 months in French oak Zinfandel casks from Chateau Montelena in Napa Valley.
The nose opens with crisp oak, vanilla and white chocolate, then red apple, ripe pear, pomegranate, cranberry and maraschino cherry. The palate is sweet and mouth-coating, drying with pot still spice, citrus, orchard fruit, red berries and marzipan. The finish is long, with pot still spice and a delicate dryness.
