Green Spot Chateau Montelena is a single pot still Irish whiskey distilled at Midleton in County Cork and bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill filtered and is the second release in the Wine Geese series.
The whiskey matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, then spent a further 12 months in French oak Zinfandel wine casks supplied by Chateau Montelena in Napa Valley.
The nose combines oak, vanilla, white chocolate and marshmallow with red apple, pear, pomegranate, cranberry and maraschino cherry. The palate is sweet, then dry, with pot still spice, citrus, red berries, marzipan and toasted oak. The finish is long, with spice balanced by a dry, wine-like quality.
