Green Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey finished in Zinfandel wine casks, bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The name goes back to Mitchell & Sons, a Dublin wine merchant founded in 1805, which marked casks of different ages with a spot of coloured paint. Green Spot became the most popular of its Spot whiskeys.
In the glass it is light amber. The nose has fresh aromatic fruit and oils with barley and toasted wood, and the Sherry casks are clearly present. The palate is spicy, with green apple, pear and apricot, rounded by mellow grain and coconut. The finish is of moderate length, with spice and pot still character.
