This is a 12-year-old single malt from Suntory's Hakushu Distillery, set in the forests of Japan's Southern Alps and established in 1973. It is made from malted barley with a touch of lightly peated malt, and bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
Maturation takes place in American oak, sherry casks and Japanese Mizunara oak. The distillery uses a variety of pot still shapes, and the whisky is known for a fresh, green, forest-like character.
The nose is green apple, fresh mint, cucumber and gentle peat smoke. On the palate come pear, honey, lime zest, vanilla cream and fresh herbs with a soft smokiness, and the finish is clean, with light smoke and delicate oak.
