This is an 18-year-old Japanese single malt from the Hakushu distillery, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the 2024 Tsukuriwake Selection Peated Malt, first launched for Suntory's 100th anniversary and brought back in 2024.
It is a blend of peated malts at different peat levels, reported as 5, 15 and 40 ppm, matured for at least 18 years under American oak influence.
The nose is sage, ripe green apple, pineapple, sandalwood, menthol and tobacco smoke. The palate is rich, with smoke, herbs, grapefruit, acacia honey, clove, black pepper, caramel and malt candy. The finish is long, with clean smoke, green citrus, lime zest and lingering ash.
