Hakushu Story of the Distillery 2025 Edition is a Japanese single malt from Suntory's forest distillery in Yamanashi, in a 700ml bottle at 43% ABV. It draws on smoky malt whisky, with bourbon-barrel-matured malt central to the composition.
The 2025 marks the edition rather than an age, and the presentation portrays the forest landscape around the distillery.
The nose offers pineapple, vanilla cream and roasted hojicha. The palate is light and soft, with a gentle wasanbon-sugar sweetness and faint bitterness, leading to a finish of ember smoke and bittersweet notes.
