Hard Truth Barrel Finish Reserve Finished on French Oak is a bourbon from Hard Truth Distilling Co. in Nashville, Indiana. It is the first 2026 release in the Barrel Finish Reserve series, which began in 2023, and is bottled at 53.05% in a 750ml bottle.
It blends two of the distillery's sweet-mash bourbons, aged in custom-toasted American oak, then finished in toasted French oak casks of medium-plus toast. The bourbon then returned to its original casks for a final mellowing. This is a 23-barrel batch.
Apricot jam, buttered croissant, honey and clove lead the nose. The palate brings candied fruit, buttered toffee, rye spice and oak, and the finish has apricot, baking spice, black pepper and bruléed sugar.
