Hayashi 18 Year Old Ryukyu is a single grain Japanese whisky from Okinawa, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from 100% Japanese indica rice fermented with a rare strain of black koji, the same base used for awamori, Okinawa's traditional spirit.
It matures for 18 years in white oak barrels, and no caramel colour is added.
The nose is bittersweet, with warm harvest grain. The palate has fresh orange against lingering wood, with spice and honey, and the finish is long and well rounded, with woody notes and a bittersweet edge.
