Hayashi KoYo Ryukyu Japanese Whisky (70cl, 43%)

A single grain Japanese whisky from Okinawa in the Ryukyu Islands, bottled at 43% in a 700ml bottle. It is made from 100% Japanese indica rice fermented with black koji, in the tradition of awamori, and matured in barrels in the island air. No caramel colour is added. KoYo is the signature expression of Hayashi's Okinawan range and carries no age statement. The nose is sandalwood, orange blossom and white flower, with apple, butterscotch and the funky note of black koji. On the palate come apricot, creamed caramel and sourdough biscuit, tropical and powerful with a savoury undercurrent. The finish is smooth and long.
