This is a 10 year old Hazelburn, a limited release distilled at Springbank in 2000 and matured in rum casks. Cadenhead bottled it in 2011, with 240 bottles produced.
The rum casks show straight away on the nose, with banana, plenty of rum and cane sugar, and a pleasant note of brand new shoes. On the palate the cask and spirit are well balanced. The rum character carries over and is joined by rich liquorice and hints of leather.
The finish is pleasantly oaky with a sweet, malty flavour.
