Hazelburn – 12 Year Old 2010 Oloroso Cask Matured 2022 49.9% is a single malt whisky from Hazelburn (Campbeltown). Aged 12 years, bottled at 49.9% ABV, 70cl. Found in one of the most remote parts of Scotland, the Springbank distillery is still family owned. Situated on the western parts of Scotland on the Kintyre Peninsula, it is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company. They also own Glengyle Distillery, William Cadenheads (the oldest independent bottler) and several other blended scotch labels. They are tough cookies down in this neck of the world where by they are one of the last surviving producers of single malt whiskies in Campbeltown. They have been licensed in 1828 and at one time the area had over thirty active distilleries. The distillery produces both peated and unpeated expressions under three distinct brands. Springbank, Hazelburn and Longrow. Distilled at the Hazelburn distillery in Campbeltown, this expression was matured for 12 years prior to bottling. The first Hazelburn came from the stills in 2010 and was released in 2022. Only 10% of the distilling time at the Springbank distillery is attributed to Hazelburn. Only 9000 bottles have been released in November of 2022.
