Heaven's Door 'Refuge' is a rye whiskey made from a 100% rye mash bill, aged for six to eight years and then finished for up to about six months in sherry casks. The brand was founded by Bob Dylan, and the whiskey comes from Heaven's Door Distillery in Pleasureville, Kentucky. It is bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle.
Tasting notes describe dark fruit, oak and spice with sherry sweetness on the nose. The palate sets peppery rye against dried fruit, honey, caramel and vanilla, with leather, nutmeg and tobacco. The finish is long and spiced, with citrus, chewy caramel, clove and a hint of wintergreen.
