This is an 8 year old American single malt, distilled in Oklahoma and released as a single barrel at cask strength, 61% ABV. It is a collaboration with the World Whiskey Society.
The whiskey was aged in new charred white oak barrels. Its name honours Henry Deringer, the 19th-century gunsmith who invented the Philadelphia pocket pistol.
The nose is malted barley and wildflower honey, with dried apricot and light caramel. The palate opens silky, with honeyed malt and stone fruit, moving to toffee, molasses and caramel. The finish is long and warming, with malt sweetness and soft fruit preserves.
