High West Campfire is a blend of Scotch, bourbon and rye whiskeys. It began when David Perkins ate breakfast near Bruichladdich on Islay, where a syrup of sugar and peated whisky was poured over honeydew melon.
Back in America, he blended sweet bourbon from Lawrenceburg with peaty Islay single malt and a little spicy rye.
The nose is floral and fruity with caramel, butterscotch, light smoke and campfire embers, plus jasmine, chai, leather and pine resin. The palate brings vanilla, honey, toffee, blueberries, black cherries, chai spices and orange zest, with salty caramel and gentle smoke.
