High West – High Country American Single Malt (75cl)

An American single malt from High West in Utah, made by admirers of Scotch single malt who wanted an American version of their own. It is sold in a 75cl bottle. It is distilled "on the grain", so the grain stays in during fermentation and distillation rather than being filtered out. Maturation uses both freshly charred and second-use oak barrels. The result is a heavier mouthfeel with a roasted malt character. The nose brings warm croissants, Bananas Foster, white grape jelly on toast and mountain meadows. The palate offers honeydew melon with raw honey, dulce de leche, praline, shortbread raisin cookies and tobacco, and the finish moves to vanilla cream and maple syrup.
