High West Mountain Gin is a New Western-style American gin distilled in Park City, Utah, by a distillery best known for its whiskeys. It is bottled at 45% vol. in small batches.
The botanicals draw on the alpine flora of the Wasatch Range and include juniper, citrus, coriander and wild mountain herbs. Juniper stays at the centre rather than giving way to the herbs and citrus.
The nose offers fresh citrus zest, juniper, pine needle, delicate wildflowers and a little warming spice. On the palate come bright orange and lemon pepper, earthy coriander, wild thyme, a firm juniper backbone and cooling mint. The finish is medium in length, clean and citrusy, with alpine herbs lingering.
