High West – Rendezvous Rye Whiskey (75cl, 46%)

High West Rendezvous Rye is a blend of straight rye whiskeys, bottled at 46% ABV in Park City, Utah. It was the first whiskey High West produced and remains its flagship. A 95% rye whiskey, mashed with 5% malted barley, is blended with High West's own pot-still rye of 80% rye and 20% malted rye. The whiskeys are aged for at least four years, and the blend is never chill filtered. The name recalls the annual gathering of mountain traders in Utah's Cache Valley in the early 1800s, where trappers exchanged pelts for supplies. The nose is orange peel, dried apricots, mint, clove, pine and caramelised sugar. On the palate, bold ginger and cinnamon sit over molasses, vanilla, macaroon and toasted oak. The finish is lively rye spice fading to caramel, orange zest and tobacco.
