Highland Park 12 Year Old is a single malt from the distillery in Kirkwall on Orkney, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was first bottled as a 12 year old in 1979 and remains the core of the range. The whisky matures mainly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak.
The style is gentle heathery peat smoke over honeyed sweetness, with spice and citrus. The nose is fresh and aromatic, with floral notes, light grassiness, heather honey, lime zest and a faint wisp of smoke. The palate has creamy caramel, honeyed apple or pear, orange, granary toast, a little sea salt and cloves.
