Highland Park 12 Year Old, also known as Viking Honour, is a single malt from the Kirkwall distillery on Orkney, founded in 1798. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky matures in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, with some bourbon oak, in Orkney's cool, temperate climate. It draws on the distillery's five keystones: Orcadian peat from Hobbister Moor, hand-turned floor maltings, sherry-seasoned oak, cool island maturation and long harmonisation.
The nose is creamy vanilla, fresh citrus and floral heather honey. The palate brings honey, dried fruit, cinnamon and light peat smoke, and the finish is smooth and lingering, with sweet malt and gentle smoke.
