This is Highland Park 12 Year Old, a lightly peated single malt from Orkney, in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV.
The peat used to dry the malt is central to its character. It has taken in the salt of the sea over centuries and adds a heathery note to the whisky. The whisky is matured in oak for at least 12 years, with sherry among the casks listed, and has a glowing amber colour.
The nose is lightly smoky, with honey, heather, a gentle sweetness and a touch of sherry. The palate is soft and round, with a light smoke.
