A 13 year old Highland Park bottled by Maltbarn, a family-run independent company on the North Sea coast of Germany. The whisky was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2020 from a single bourbon cask, number 160, which gave 138 bottles.
The notes describe Orcadian peat smoke with waxes, dried mushrooms and hessian on the nose. The palate is gamey, leathery and salty, with natural tar and dry heathery peat, and the finish is long, with verbena and herbal liqueurs.
