Highland Park – 13 Year Old - Single Cask #6569 - World Duty Free & Glasgow Airport is a single malt whisky from Highland Park (Islands). Aged 13 years, bottled at 63.5% ABV, 70cl. Highland Park is known for being the most Northern Scotch Whisky Distillery in the world. It is situated on the outskirts of the biggest town in Orkney 58.9847°N. It is so far North that it is almost in the Arctic circle. To give you an idea, it is on the same latitude as Anchorage, Alaska. The distillery has been distilling in the same site since 1798 where the founder, Magnus Eunson's, original illicit still was at High Park. They smoke their own barley from over 4,000 year old peat which has been cut from the Hobbister Moor only seven miles from the distillery. This bottling is part of Highland Park's Single Cask Series and was bottled exclusively for World Duty-Free & Glasgow Airport. Distilled in 2004, this single malt was matured for 13 years in refill butt #6569 and bottled at the cask strength of 63.5% ABV. With only 660 bottles available, this is a limited edition.
