This is a 13 year old Highland Park from Orkney, released by the independent bottler Fruitful Spirits at 56.3% in a 70cl bottle. After its main maturation it spent two years finishing in a first-fill Vin Santo barrique, which adds a candied, dessert-like quality to the distillery's honeyed richness and gentle floral smoke. It is natural cask strength, with no colouring or chill-filtration.
The nose offers honeyed malt, heather smoke, dried fruits and candied citrus. The palate brings baked apple, pear, apricot, orange blossom, toffee, hazelnut and ginger. The finish is long and warming, with honeycomb, dried fruit, soft oak spice and a lingering wisp of smoke.
