Highland Park 15 Year Old is a single malt from Orkney, bottled at 44% ABV so that its fruitiness and heathery peat come through clearly.
The Master Whisky Maker chose mainly sherry-seasoned European oak casks for warm, spicy notes, alongside sherry-seasoned American oak casks for a sweet vanilla balance. A few refill casks were added to soften and smooth the flavours.
On the nose it opens with crème brûlée, heather honey and crumbled cinnamon, followed by fresh pineapple and lemon zest. Freshly baked sponge cake and toasted cinnamon appear too, with citrus and vanilla lingering in waves of peat smoke.
