Highland Park 15 Year Old Viking Heart is an Orkney single malt in a ceramic decanter, bottled at 44% ABV. The 15-year-old was reintroduced in 2021 under the Viking Heart name.
Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion chose mainly sherry-seasoned European oak casks for spicy richness, with sherry-seasoned American oak for vanilla sweetness and a few refill casks to soften the whole. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose brings crème brûlée, buttered sponge, pear, apple and heather honey, with cinnamon and citrus zest. The palate is silky, with vanilla, toffee, pineapple and baked apple over gentle heather smoke, and the finish is honeyed and lightly smoky.
