Highland Park – 2014/2024 10 Year Old Random Barrique Little Brown Dog (70cl, 60.1%)

This is a 10 year old Highland Park bottled by Little Brown Dog at 60.1% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was distilled on Orkney on 28 May 2014. The paperwork described the cask as a bourbon hogshead, but on arrival it proved to be a barrique, a wine cask. What wine it held before is unknown, hence the name Random Barrique. In colour it is plum jam. The nose brings chopped dates, woodshed and dunnage warehouse. On the palate there is fresh fig, candied peel and fine, funky peat, and the finish carries cinnamon and the smell of last night's bonfire.
