A 21 year old single malt from Highland Park, released in 2020 and bottled at 46% ABV. It was vatted from just 55 hand-selected casks, all filled in November 1998, and combines three types of cask: first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads, ex-bourbon casks and refill casks.
The sherry-seasoned hogsheads bring tangy fresh ginger and sun-ripened oranges. The ex-bourbon casks add soft vanilla custard with a little honey. The refill casks temper the influence of the first-fill oak, leaving only a hint of lightly toasted wood and softening the smoky, spicy character of the whisky.
