Highland Park 21 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Orkney Islands, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The distillery has operated there since 1798.
The whisky matures in first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads and ex-bourbon barrels, so two cask styles shape it. Its peat is hand-cut from Hobbister Moor, a deposit rich in heather, which gives a floral smoke.
The nose is usually described as espresso, dark chocolate, marmalade and orange peel. On the palate come cinnamon, apricot and ginger, and the finish is long, with lime zest, baking cocoa and gentle peat smoke.
