This is a 23-year-old Highland Park from Orkney, bottled by Douglas Laing in its Xtra Old Particular Spirit Animal Series. It was distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 53.7% ABV, from a single refill hogshead, DL16008, which gave 248 bottles of 70cl. It is without added colouring and non-chill-filtered.
The whisky is smoky and salty, with blackcurrant giving depth. Sweet smoke, spices and fresh citrus add to the flavour.
