Highland Park 40 Year Old Spring 2019 Release is a single malt from Orkney, bottled at 43.2% in a 70cl glass decanter that comes in a dark oak box. It is natural in colour and non-chill-filtered.
The whisky comes from just five refill casks, filled before 1979 and made of ex-sherry American oak. Only 1,500 bottles were produced.
The nose is rich, with dark chocolate, raisins, figs, toasted oak and a hint of heather smoke. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with Seville marmalade, marzipan, sherry-soaked fruit and aromatic peat. The finish is long, with perfumed oak and zesty spice.
