Highland Park Cask Strength Release No. 5 is the fifth bottling in the distillery's Cask Strength series, a single malt from Kirkwall on Orkney, in a 75cl bottle. It was matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks and bottled undiluted at natural cask strength, with no added colour.
Highland Park has distilled in Kirkwall since 1798. It malts its own barley on the floor and smokes it with Orkney heather peat.
The nose is rich sherry fruit, dark chocolate and heather honey, with a thread of peat smoke. The palate is dense with dried fruit, cinnamon, orange and sweet smoke, and the finish is long and warming with spice and peat.
