This is the fifth release in the Highland Park Cask Strength series, a single malt from Orkney bottled at 64.7% ABV.
It was matured mainly in first-fill, sherry-seasoned European oak casks, including Pedro Ximénez casks, alongside refill casks, ex-bourbon casks and a small share of first-fill sherry-seasoned American oak. The casks were hand selected by the distillery's Master Whisky Maker.
The nose brings dried cloves, fresh oregano, crushed pine needles and wood smoke. On the palate come prunes, dates and sultanas, with liquorice, winter spices, cocoa nibs and light oak. The finish is fragrant and smoky, with sherried fruits and sweet spices.
