Highland Park – Freya 15 Year Old Valhalla Collection (70cl, 51.2%)

Highland Park Freya is a 15 year old single malt from Orkney and the third release in the Valhalla Collection, a series of four whiskies named after Norse gods: Thor, Loki, Freya and Odin. It is bottled at a cask strength of 51.2% in a 70cl bottle and was matured entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. The name comes from the Norse goddess of love, fertility and wealth. The bottle sits in a handcrafted wooden stand shaped like a Viking longboat. The nose is aromatic smoke, fresh ginger, old copper, stewed plums and golden syrup. On the palate come orange peel, butterscotch and rose petals, with orange blossom, ginger and tropical fruit under soft peat smoke.
