Highland Park Freya is a 15-year-old Orkney single malt, bottled at 51.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is the third release in the Valhalla Collection and takes its name from Freya, the Norse goddess of love, fertility and battle. It comes in a wooden casket in the form of a Viking longship.
The whisky was matured predominantly in ex-bourbon casks.
The nose offers almond, vanilla, jute sack, peach skin and cold-roasted chestnuts, with sea air and brine. The palate is sweet and smooth, with vanilla, oak, light fruit, gentle spice and a touch of bitterness and smoke. The finish is creamy, with oak lingering.
