Highland Park Odin is a 16 year old single malt from Orkney, bottled at 55.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is the final release in the Valhalla Collection and takes its name from Odin, the All-father and ruler of Asgard.
The whisky was matured mainly in first-fill sherry casks, alongside refill hogsheads, and about 17,000 bottles were filled. It comes in a wooden casket shaped like a Viking longship.
The nose is cinnamon and nutmeg with toasted walnuts, dark chocolate and dried apricots. The palate is spicy, with ginger, cherries, ripe dates and orange liqueur over heather honey. The finish is long and warm, with chocolate, dried fruit and oak.
