This is Highland Park Sigurd, a Highland single malt from the Warrior Series, a travel retail exclusive range that introduces key figures from Orkney's Viking history. This release is dedicated to the warrior Sigurd, who killed the dragon Fafnir. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The series shows how much the type of cask shapes flavour, and Sigurd matured mostly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks.
The nose is fruity with cherry and plum, vanilla, heather and a little smoke. The palate is sweet and spicy, with citrus, toffee, vanilla and hints of lavender, and the finish is long, spicy and slightly smoky.
