Highland Park Viking Heart 15 Year Old is a single malt from Kirkwall, Orkney, bottled at 44% and sold in a 750ml hand-glazed ceramic decanter made by Wade Ceramics. The decanter is embossed with a lion-and-serpent design and a heart motif, a nod to the earthenware vessels of the Vikings. It replaced the classic 15 year old in 2021.
The malt is matured mainly in first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak, with sherry-seasoned American oak and a few refill casks. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is described as crème brûlée, heather honey and cinnamon, followed by pineapple, lemon zest and sponge cake. Citrus and vanilla linger through waves of peat smoke.
