Highland Park – Vintage 1990 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl)

This is a vintage single malt Scotch from Highland Park, in a 70cl bottle. It comes from casks laid down in 1990, part of a series in which the Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, selects a small number of casks of outstanding character. For this release, 34 ex-bourbon casks were tipped into first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak hogsheads and refill hogsheads. After further maturation, five casks were chosen: three European oak hogsheads, one American oak hogshead and one refill hogshead. They were married in August 2023 and left to settle before bottling. The nose offers ripe orchard pears, grapefruit, geranium, violet and delicate peat smoke. Pink grapefruit, mandarin, vanilla, coconut and nutmeg follow, and the fruity finish carries fresh-cut wood and heathery peat smoke.
