Hooten Young 15 Year Old Barrel Proof is an American whiskey from the veteran-owned Hooten Young brand, distilled by MGP in Indiana from a mash of 99% corn and 1% malted barley. It spent fifteen years in second-fill charred American oak and is bottled undiluted at 62.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It was released to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, the mission led by the brand's founder, retired Delta Force MSgt. Norm Hooten. It won a Double Gold Medal at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition.
Tasting notes describe baked apple, candied apricot and vanilla on the nose, maple syrup, dark caramel and clove on the palate, and a long finish of oak, dried fruit and gentle smoke.
