Horse Soldier Barrel Strength is a bourbon bottled at barrel strength. The mash bill is 70% corn, 20% soft red winter wheat and 10% two-row barley, made with water from limestone aquifers and without additives or artificial colour. It is a poppy topaz colour. The maker suggests sipping it neat or with ice, though it also works in a Sazerac, an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. The nose is typically described as caramel, honey, butterscotch, cashew and spiced raisin, with a hint of toffee and some woodiness. A deeper breath brings out apples, citrus and leather.
