House of Hazelwood Charles Gordon Collection The Old Confectioner's 44 Year Old Blended Cask Strength (70cl, 45%)

The Old Confectioner's is a 44 year old blended whisky from the House of Hazelwood Charles Gordon Collection, bottled at 45% ABV. Only 256 bottles were produced, each in a hand-engraved, individually numbered decanter with an ash display box inlaid with gold leaf. Years of marrying in refill sherry butts shaped its character, which brings old sweet shops to mind. Liquorice and candied fruit greet the nose. On the palate, caramelised notes lead into darker treacle toffee and liquorice. The finish is long, moving slowly from sweet to dry, with flashes of leather and oak that recall old wooden counter-tops.
