The Accelerator & The Brake is a 33-year-old blended Scotch whisky from House of Hazelwood, bottled at a cask strength of 57.6% ABV in a 700ml bottle. A total of 209 bottles were filled, drawn from the Grant family's private reserves.
Grain whisky from the family's Girvan distillery leads the blend, matured for 33 years mostly in American white oak, with a portion in virgin oak. It is bottled without added colour or chill-filtration.
The nose opens with damp leaves, earth and roasted Oolong tea, with dark berries, leather and light smoke. The palate is silky, with maple syrup, pecan pie, dark chocolate and black fruits. The long finish moves from ripe stone fruit to baking spices and a cool mint note.
